The Charmander, Cyndaquil and Fennekin lines are obvious reaching and tell me this wasn't intentional. Torchic line has been proven as a concept branched off from Lati@s. And both Chimchar and Tepig are blatantly inspired by Journey to the West.
However, Litten and now Scorbunny are so on-the-nose that I'm wondering if Game Freak said "fuck it" for Gen 7 and changed their minds.
