>>36287370Eh, I have mixed feelings about the original Trainer art. First we have Gen 1. On one side, it's unique (and Red actually looks like an 11-year-old as shown in pic related) and I do really like the watercolours. But on the other side, the proportions are really bad, probably due to how angular everything is.
However, Gen 2's art style is roughly the same but he started adding more realistic proportions and some other stuff(like the eye shape being different depending on the trainer's gender). The white highlights in the watercolours were removed for a lot of the Trainer art, though. Overall, I love how expressive the Trainers were in this art style as shown in the Pokémon Stadium games. Yeah, they were really cartoony, but it still gives a lot of personality. You look at the facial expressions in SM and they're just bland.
But, yeah, his modern artwork looks a lot better.
