Nevertheless, since I've never cared for Ash's watered down 'safe' characterization for most of the series, which has only gotten more dull and stereotypical as time went on, I still hope he's allowed to acknowledge girls again. But if you prefer him remaining an oblivious husk that gushes over food and battle like the most generic protagonist imaginable, just to spite part of the fucking fanbase, well that's on you.
Frankly even without any romance at all, I'd be happy with just a bit of childish ribbing and bickering back and forth like the old days. Back when Ash felt more like a character and less of a cardboard cutout with a dream.
