Post-surf mine consists of 4 floors:
The first two floors are where the actual mining gets done: there's little elevation, mostly just large, mostly flat rooms connected by tunnels. There's still minecart puzzles to be found, of course. These floors are pretty much an expansion to the pre-surf mine. Maybe there can be a fun puzzle where you have to take an elevator to the second floor but it doesn't work, so you have to do a wire puzzle like in the lighthouse.
The second floor down has a seemingly dead end with lots of rocks all over the place, some blocking off a tunnel. There's a miner here who says they never dug any deeper beyond this point because of increasing tremors coming from down below and cave-ins and shit. However, somewhere to the side of this dead end you can find a small crack with a strength boulder or rock smash rock. This leads to the rest of the cavern.
The third floor is very different from the ones above: instead of being mostly flat it's a steep climb downwards into the depths of the earth. No minecart puzzles or anything, just a straightforward climb down.
Fourth floor, the bottom floor, is a very large room with some pools of lava strewn about. I realize the concept art maybe is too focused on the lava, in my head there really isn't that much of it, just a few pools. It's mostly a craggy rough cavern. It's not as flat as the top floors, there's some stairs/ups and downs. Also strength puzzles. After making your way through you can enter a solitary room where you can find a cool TM and wild Carbite. Maybe some of the rocks in this room have small glints of diamond?
