>>44991924I still don't know how to drive and I'm starting to get really self-concious about it. I'm 26 btw
Granted, I live in a really big city and it's easy to find public transport, be it bus or train, or catch an Uber, but getting a driver's license is like the "adult" thing to do and it would be nice if I could take my friends or girl out for a spin every now and then
I have a learner's permit and my dad offers to help teach me how to drive on weekends but I just get scared when I'm in there in charge of maneuvering that 3,000lb chunk of steel. When I drive I drive slow yet I've managed to get into 2-3 minor accidents before due to getting nervous e.g. like breaking the passenger side mirror of my dad's car after getting too closed to parked cars on the road
It just seems like there are so many rules I have to remember when driving and on top of that I have to constantly focus on the environment around me and check what's going on in the front, rear and sides so I don't make a mistake and put my or anybody else's safety at risk
I honestly just don't think I have the competence to get a driver's license. On one hand, not having a car or worry about insurance, etc means a lot less responsibility for me and like I said, I live in a big city with many transportation options so having a car, while useful, isn't a must
On the other hand, what if I decide to move somewhere else where my options are much more limited and having a car becomes a necessity? Or what if I got married and started a family? Are we going to have to go together on the bus/train or pay for a taxi every time we want to go somewhere?
This shit boggles my mind
