>>54078784>Does it bring down replaying the game?Even if you pretend like the cutscenes are the issue, removing them (or just fast-forwarding like you can do on Citra) reveals that Alola is just a pitiful excuse for a region.
Not only is it too small, but there's very little to do or explore in any of the routes. All of them are built like small Kalos Route 1-esque corridors instead of having any real sense of identity. So even if you ignored the statistical differences of Alola already having less routes, less trainers, and less things to collect because of how small the four split islands are, you've still got all of that presented in maps that are almost entirely straight lines with a road going straight through them.
It's why it's really funny whenever I see Gen 7 apologists come to the defense of "DID YOU JUST FOLLOW THE ROTOM?!" when yes, if you want to actually enjoy SM/USUM you are supposed to follow it or else 9/10 times you'll be stopped by some incessant roadblock. Every game prior had areas to explore WHILE you were traversing the new areas. Alola is the only region that specifically beats you over the head not to try this and then still only has a handful of areas that could really be considered "optional" all of which just amount to dead ends of areas you've already explored. Unova/Kalos's map design incorporated both and did the latter element better by virtue of not wasting your time to that extent if you decided to go and pick up those items at areas you couldn't get to before.
