>>54080330>Dragged out opening He said, in a thread about Alola’s multihour tutorial. Pokémon having a long dragging tutorial is pretty consistent and one of the things it inherits from the RPG genre. Could it be better? Yes. Is it an original sin by SV? No.
>Story is bullshit Literally every Pokémon game, it’s almost as if the story is designed to be digestible by anybody because the game is E for everyone. Also you’re a pleb if you think the twist was bad, it wasn’t pure shock value since it sets up that there’s clearly something more to Paradox Pokémon than just time travel and also concludes Arven’s arc.
>Team Star is retarded Team Star was refreshing. It wasn’t yet another genocidal gang (Gens 1 - 6) or a shady corpo hiding behind a team of incompetents (Gen 7 - 8), it was just a bunch of rebellious kids because - shocker - when a kid is failed by authority they tend to become adverse to other authorities.
>Clavel Was a meta un-twist referencing Pokémon’s non-professor authority figures commonly becoming villains
>Penny Is a competent twist villain. Of course a smart adult can see it coming from a mile off, but they don’t exactly smack you over the head with it.
>Arven story All the stories were simple and low stakes until Area Zero. It’s a deliberate contrast, genius.
>Technical issues And it’s sad in spite of how embarrassing they are, SV is still a better game than SS.
Better story than SS, better models for Pokémon and characters (relative to their release time) than SS even with a worse overworld (so I’d say even), and whilst the performance is worse at least SV understands what pacing, exploration, and player choice are.
