As for the latter point...while it would be MEIN GOTT tier, it would kind of wrie them in a corner. They truly, couldn't escape making her more a permanent part of the cast.
Now, can someone explain to me how they don't see Ash/May or Ash/Dawn as more than "just BFFs" or "just mentor/student"? They both had tons of...material.
Maybe it would do good if they made episodes where they show up again more frequently.
I would kill for an episode where ALL the girls end up in the same city for some reason.
