Have two mainline series you alternate between.
One for kids (which are the designated userbase) that play pokemon for the first/second time. Simplify the battles, have easier fights, levelling faster...
One for fans that already outgrew the first two gens they played. Have deep mechanics, difficulty pushed up, maybe more engaging plot.
And slow the fuck down from shitting out products so fast if you can't keep up the pace and futureproofing makes you lose stuff anyway.
