As I said, its not about total time taken, its about letting breeding actually function in the background and not being something you have to sit there and do. I just made up those numbers, but if you hatch like 10 Pokemon a day, you will probably be able to shift your breeding pair once a day or two, meaning you'd probably have a 5 IV Pokemon in a week. Without cycling around the damn island. And you could still cycle around the island if you really wanted to go faster.
I breed a lot, but let's not pretend it can't be improved.
