This is my favorite.
Gastrodon's form changes in Kalos and Alola are deliberate.
Kalos is based off of France, which many consider to be west of Japan. Therefore, only West Sea Gastrodon can be found there.
Alola is based on Hawaii. Poni Island is east of Japan. Therefore, only East Sea Gastrodon can be found there.
