>>44752828I've always been a fan of monkeys, I liked a lot of the monkey Pokémon before this one, such as Aipom, Mankey, Slaking if that even counts as a gorilla when it's more so some kind of oversized sloth. But when Chimchar was shown before DP was released, I fell in love with it. It ended up being my favorite starter and Pokémon in general, I loved the whole line. I would end up using it in every team I had back in Gen 4, would transfer it to every gen after that until Gen 7, I still hope to this day that it'll comeback somehow
I just love the design, the variety of moves it can learn, the cry, especially the final form of Infernape, it reminded me of why I love monkeys as animals, they're cute, clever, acrobatic maybe, but they're really cool animals
