You get turned into a Pokemon and get a best friend for life like you do with your pokemon partner in the PMD games, with them undoubtedly getting even closer than they do in the games with the sad anon-mons you see in these threads here
But
At the end of a grand adventure, you must go back to the human world in order to defeat/seal off the big bad, breaking your partner's little poke-heart and leaving them forever, with how you did it making them think you outright died. This time with absolutely no chance of coming back, leaving them a sad, depressed shell wishing just to see you one more time again.
Would you still do it? Would you save the Pokemon world, but shatter the life of the pokemon you had grown so close with, never to actually see the Pokemon world for real ever again?
Or would you continue to persist in this doomed reality, with the world a shell of its former self? Particularly if your partner had found out that you would be gone if you went ahead with fixing the world, and would only be overjoyed to see you stay, with them, even in such a shattered world?
Shamefully, I'd probably choose to stay, and try to find some other way to fix things. Maybe go find and bug the hell out of Arceus to fix things instead of hurting the pokemon partner like that.
