>>43700060I agree completely. As much as I like Alolan Ninetales, it being one my favorite Pokemon, I've always felt like it was super unfair to Kantonian Ninetales. Same goes for Raichu, Exceggutor, Muk, Darmanitan, and so many others. Their base forms go unloved and untouched because a shiny new regional form was released. That's a toxic way to treat changing older Pokemon when buffing stats, moving abilities around, giving more moves etc. are all viable options. Like, at that point, why would you even use K-Muk over A-Muk? A-Muk is K-Muk but, quite literally, just better. It does what K-Muk wants to do, but more, and better. How is that fair? How is that healthy? And don't get me started on Obstagoon. What a mistake that dumpster fire was. Regional form on top of a cross-gen evolution. The fuck were they thinking? Was shoehorning that KISS reference really that important? It sucks, too, becasue I genuinely enjoy the concept. Again, Alolan Ninetales is one of my favorite Pokemon, but it just wasn't fair to leave base Ninetales behind, even if Ninetales was one of the ones to get a regional form that didn't get it as bad. But being able to ship both together gives both a fair chance to shine. Anyway, I digress.
TL;DR, regional forms overshadowing base forms by being blatantly better in every way was simply toxic. It's a nice concept, but it's not worth putting base forms in the dirt.
