You have the sketch of the random Pearl Clan guy finding Ingo on the ground, while in the actual game he said he was standing stunned when someone found him. So I can play devil's advocate for the people who turn XX years into 2-4 years out of cope by saying that if one part of the concept art doesn't match the final, the XX years part isn't necessarily 'final' either. Unless Gamefreak actually confirm or deny it, there's that slight wiggle room for people.
But now that they've set the new Legends in Kalos, I prefer to cope by headcanoning Xerneas restores his years after the credits roll because it's just that much of a bro.
