The first Koffing in the Alola region were forced to live in hostile environments due to people and other pokemon that found Koffing's fumes unpleasant. As a result, Koffing only found refuge in the volcanoes of the region. While the gasses inside their body is highly volatile, some Koffing learned to adapt and even thrive deep in the volcanoes.
Design wise: red color, caldera like "pores" with a small trails of smoke leaking out, the skull on their body is the flammable symbol and has moved to the top of its head--a nod to its incorrect sprite from Gen 1.

Design wise, something like pic related but, like Koffing, uses the flammable symbol. The three heads would be a nod to the few game references of Weezing with a third head.
