It comes in on something it's supposed to trap with Magnet Pull. The opponent can't switch out. Magnezone Mega Evolves, replaces Magnet Pull with Levitate and OHKOs the opponent (the stat boost should make up for lack of Specs). Assuming that's the only Steel type you needed to get rid of, Magnet Pull's job is done and it can be Ground immune for the rest of the battle. Mega Evolving and gaining Levitate would allow it to avoid Earthquake from the Steel type it's trapping too.

Poison/Dark would make the most sense since it learns so many dark type moves, and typing wise it would have no weaknesses other than mold breaker EQ.

Though I'd have it as an evo rather than a Mega, because Eviolite Weezing would still have the fairy and fighting resist - however it is questionable how well he would do against fairies, due to most of their moves hitting on the special side. Fighting types can't do shit against him though.
