After becoming champion in several places of Kanto, Dittos will appear transformed into Mew at the start of the battle confusing the trainer. It will appear one at once on a designated area in this order: Pokemon Mansion > Route 21 > Route 1>Viridian Forest >Route 3>Mt. Moon. After defeating the Mt. Moon one, a Mew will show on the overworld and it will hide on a new cave in Mt.Moon, that cave will led you to the peak of Mt.Moon where the real Mew is waiting you catch it.
