If you based it on a real world conspiracy or if you make it too realistic, you'll draw attention from the true believers which will probably get annoying or might get you accused ot being "political" or whatever. Do you want to become known as "that fic that promotes [real world conspiracy]" even though you meant it to be fictional? Sounds exhausting.
If you make it a pokeworld-specific conspiracy, it's probably count to come out as rather silly. Like, the pokemon league is systematically suppressing the knowledge of the existence of a secret type of poke ball that does... something. Sounds instantly silly to me.
