Sceptile, Swampert, Blaziken, none of them appeal to me. Fortunately, Hoenn has a really great variety of pokemon (on land that is) especially early in the game, so ditching my starter isn't too difficult. I like a lot of Hoenn pokemon, actually.
From Sinnoh, I like me some Torterra. Unova I don't like much either but I find Emboar tolerable.
So for me, starters go:
I = II > IV > V > III
