I enjoyed naming my Flareon Vivian after the Shadow Siren from Paper Mario 2 (used Fire attacks).

You can basically look at the name rater's page at pkmn.net to find the worst names.
It's personally hard for me to name Pokemon most of the time, but when I find a good one I stick with it.

Currently running a platinum nuzlocke. All my Pokemon are named after game of thrones characters.

ex. Started with chimchar and named it stannis. Caught a magikarp and named it Daenerys etc.

'ang on, samefagging. I do sometimes nickname my Pokemon, but they usually don't have a theme. I named my only shiny "Lucky" which is unoriginal, I always named the Electrodes I catch in villain bases "Friend" and I name my contest Pokemon various other noncreative names.

I just name them after whatever I'm thinking of at the moment.
Like for my BW2 run I named my entire party after comic book characters. For a competitive team my party fit the color scheme of the 6 Madoka girls, so I went with that.

But usually I don't theme and end up with something stupid, like taking one of the syllables of the Pokemon's name and then extending that to something longer. Like in my current Fire Red run, my Rattata is named Raditz.

I like nicknames and try to use them as much as possible.
Since I often raise mono-type teams I go for themes sometimes.

I named all the members of my Rock team after bands (e.g. Aggron - Metallica, Aerodactyl - Aerosmith) and named by Dark team after characters from the Dark Tower books (e.g. Scrafty - Eddie D., Shiny Weavile - Blaine).

Ampharos - Mack
Magnezone - Screwball
Magmortar - Mark

And a bunch of others that are either team members or named because of a Nuzlocke run

Personal worst:
"Seal" the dewgong. I was young and thought I was being clever. It still holds sentimental value.
"Darky" the umbreon and "lighty" the ampharos. Fuck me, those are bad.

I find that I nickname most of my pokemon on characters of shows that I like or just good characters. My most common theme is Lost by far.

Eh, sometimes if the Pokemon is based off an animal or something well know I'll nickname it after that. For instance my Sandslash is named Pangolin; Infernape is Son Goku; Mamoswine is Mammoth; Beartic is PolarBear; Tyranitar is Godzilla; Lapras is Nessie and Dewgong is....Dugong.

Sometimes I'll be semi-creative and give'em names by the way they look. I've got two Golurks, one named Big O and the other Gigantor.

The only time I can think I used mythology to name a poke was a Kingdra I had. Most of the time, the names I use are punnish in nature. (Kelvin the Typhlosion, Tesla the Ampharos, Sandra the Donphan) You do not have the ability to tell me how to name pokemon, though.

I like to name pokemon after Evangelion angels or characters. I had three pokemon in my party named Asuka, Rei, and Shinji in my White 2 playthrough so I always got a chuckle when I did a triple battle with them.

I always name my normal pokemon good stuff that I slave over, making sure it's the best name.

There are three exceptions:
I do not nickname legendaries, I like to keep them original.
I name my starter "Speedy" every time, because that's the name I gave my Cyndaquil back in Crystal (my first game)

I've done the various forms of the word "love" in latin before, it was on a platinum run where everything was a pattern down to the colors of the pokemon.

I've done a run where I would name the pokemon with a gender opposite name that began with the same letter as the pokemon name

I can't do nicknames easily without patterns; it just feels weird and unorganized

Other than that, it's usually annie may or mango characters. I once had a Drowzee named Kafka. And a Magmar named Unit-02 (OT was "Asuka" because I'm a faggot and pick the girl a lot). Not sure what happened to them...I also name every cat-looking Pokemon I catch "Frugaling" because of some dude online.

And every Zubat "Gubat" because one of my friend's (well, the only friend really) who I played Pokemon with couldn't find it in himself to pronounce Zubat correctly. My worst nickname ever was "ReignOfFir" or something...It was on a Charizard in Red. I thought it was the most bad-ass shit back then. This was in like, 2nd grade. Wow.

Nicknames are fun. Wish in-game trainers had nicknamed Pokemon as well.

Wish I could remember what I named my Pokemon in Gen III but I can't. I know I had an Aggron, Metagross, Dusclops (that I evolved into a Dusknoir and traded - stupid) and Blaziken. But their nicknames escape me.

I always try to come for nicknames for my Pokémon, at least for all the ones on the in-game team. It usually ends up being some stupid, cute, or gibberish name, or artists and architects names. Sometimes, they end up being named after an object, figures that falls in the "stupid" category.
