I hated the Ride Pokémon mechanic, but somehow had the expectation that after Solgaleo was taken over by Necrozma, I would have to go to that other altar to get Lunala and then go after Solgaleo, but instead, it was just given to me as a Ride Pokémon... all the Ultra Corridors afterwards really didn't help decrease my disappointment levels either.
Disappointment after disappointment, each new Generation, with removed stuff each time, that was the breaking point for me.
Then came Gen8, promised to be "the game for veteran players", and while it had many problems for me personally, the worst was them making pic related impossible (even if I myself don't actually do it) in exchange of nothing.
SV got some good things, but still far from enough for me to buy it.
