>>44627909To wrap up. Gen II isn't perfect, and it has a lot of room for improvement, but to say that it was objectively a poorly made or designed game, or not well thought-out, or even improved by HGSS, is absolutely retarded. They're games from 20 years ago that were huge improvements over their predecessors in every possible way, and they were made with a totally different philosophy than the other games in the series. How can we continue to grow the Pokemon world along with our own? How can we show that all things will eventually change and be renewed and that this isn't a tragic thing? How can we come to terms with growing up and realizing that our hometown has become unrecognizable, and yet still fills us with nostalgic longing and comfort? What would the real world be like if we discovered Pokemon and had our lives enriched by working alongside them?
Not even Gen III goes for these questions, and certainly after Gen V it's almost impossible to see what the developers were asking themselves as they created shit like LGPE or SS.
