For real though, you're overly focused on directly comparing beanie babies as a collectible to pokemon cards as a collectible instead of comparing the mentality of both markets, which is the entire point of the comparison.
That's why it's annoying when people are like "uhh, POKEMON CARDS ARE BETTER THAN BEANIE BABIES??? BIGGEST IP EVER???" Yeah, we know. That doesn't make their market immune to overoptimism and speculative mania.
