They're incredibly tedious and become a real slog to play through at several times. However, the novelty of the soulful animations and quirky design of NPCs and settings are really charming, though. Killer soundtracks, too, Tawada is a master. So, you're mileage will vary depending on how heavily you value the presentation aesthetics of a game.
Personally, I don't think they're good games. But if you're obsessed with Pokemon already, they're pretty neat to experience, at least. "Novelty" is the key word here.
