>>44050236Colosseum is jank, very jank. It's pretty low budget and the animations are pretty bad outside of some moves. The shadow Pokemon mechanics are interesting, but they aren't really executed well (wheras in the sequel are greatly improved).
But I love the game. It's all double battles, it actually utilizes a "darker, mature" Pokemon setting without going Full Edgelord like what every fucking "Mature" Pokemon fangame does. The limited selection means that you would use Pokemon you normally wouldn't consider in a playthrough. Because of the double battles and the setting aiming for a (slightly) older audience, it means the games can actually be challenging. Bosses use actual strategy and have decent AI. It only gets better with it in the "multiplayer" section.
XD >inb4getout is an improvement in almost every aspect to Colosseum, although the mainstory is somewhat easier. You have a greatly increased selection of Pokemon, movepools are better, level scaling is a bit better because the game doesn't expect you to go through Mt. Battle, animations are a lot better, Shadow Pokemon mechanics are loads better, and theres more side content like Battle Bingo, Battle CDs (a greatly underrated feature). However, it has a lighter tone than its prequel (probably at the reques of the IP holders) and the character designs are arguably worse.
If you like Double Battles, they're both worth playing, especially since they emulate well now.
