Sinnoh is easily at least tied with Hoenn as my favorite region, and has much more nostalgia tied to it than Hoenn does for me. What you and many people have to realize is that the Gen4 experience varies wildly depending on whether you had people to play with, and this made even D/P very enjoyable. That level of multiplayer activity has not been seen in any of the games before or since; Underground, Contests, battle mechanics being generally better and more fun to compete under, WiFi Plaza as a stretch, Poffin making, and even sharing those silly portraits for the gallery in Jubilife.
If you didn't have siblings/cousins/close friends to consistently play with, then Gen5 is objectively better.
Also the hoennbabbies/sinnohfetuses I feel is far overestimated, I feel like the vast majority of /vp/ started in gen 1 or 2. But I could be wrong.
