>>38413073I think it's pretty safe to say that for the most part Pokemon aren't exclusive to any region. A lot of these things are probably just gameplay limitations. Starter Pokemon probably aren't super rare or overwhelmingly male in the Pokemon world, and there aren't tons of perfectly usable items or valuable nuggets lying around everywhere. Those are just like that in the games to either limit or help the player
