>Red - Pikachu + 3 starters
The original blank slate Protagonist. All he wants to do is Pokemon battle and travel, and that's his defining characteristic. Has his badass moments and his stupidity moments, but remains relatively the same person. His battling revolves around sheer instinct and enjoying the thrill of working with his Pokemon, and effectively weaponizes Beginner's Luck. Forever young at heart that sounds fucking gay i know sorry The most balanced and normal of the male protags, and is fine with it.
>Gold/Ethan/whatever - Typhlosion
Slightly immature, somewhat cocky, and has the biggest spring in his step. Has incredible potential, but limited by his inability to take things seriously. His primary goal while traveling is to have fun. His battling style is the most pragmatic, think Joeseph Joestar. Most likely to get into sports and the most physically active. Constantly goes to Mt. Silver to train with/under Red, who acts like an older brother figure to Gold. Out of all the protagonists he's the most likely to get into trouble.
>Brendan - Swampert
Most arrogant and only slightly younger than Red. He could be one of the strongest, but he's held back by his many faults. Relies on his knowlege when battling. The most anti-fun. Pushes himself forward the hardest to the point of recklessness. He thinks the majority of people are idiots, and the least social. Most jerkish of the protagonists and the hardest to get along with.
>>Lucas - Torterra
The most chill and calm of all the protagonists. Takes things slowly and likes to relax doing it. To Brendan, it's about the destination. To Lucas, the destination is only at the very end. Why not invest in the journey instead? His battling style is slow and steady, the same way he does everything. The most kind hearted and gets along with everything and everyone. The closest of the protagonists to being a mature adult.
