It's a little different, because rather than words or scenes, it's based on how different elements are placed. But if you want the gist of it, Chrono Trigger has very brisk pacing, and when it breaks the flow it's to do something important in the late-midgame. XY on the other hand wants to build up Mega Evolution as a big thing, but also wants to give it to you way too early, which ends up making the stretch to the third gym really long while the rest of the game has more rapid pacing, it's not very good and building up suspense for anything else.
