She had been left behind, once an icon of a series, replaced by a storm of other girls with their own fanbases, all vying to be the one, but destined to die at the alter of the almighty status quo. And it was the mistyfags that had to bear the weight of non-resolution the longest.
Now, as we come to a close on this chapter in our lives, Misty returns as a symbol of hope, not just for herself, but for all Pokegirls who were destined to fail the moment they were created.
