Anyone who thinks Serena is the endgame doesn’t understand fiction writing. She doesn’t even have an arc. Her entire character is about worshipping Ash and getting mad when he doesn’t live up to her idealized image of him. An actual arc for her would be getting over Ash and learning to become independent rather than clinging to a weird childhood crush that she developed without even really knowing Ash. Misty, on the other hand, didn’t love Ash right away. At first she thought he was irresponsible and annoying. It was only later that she developed feelings for him without even realizing it herself. Her arc will end when she is finally honest about her love for Ash and confesses to him. Now the real question is does Ash feel the same way about Misty?
