>>54678745I'd think some of their design quirks can be attributed to:
>Androgynous-looking shit is naturally a lot more versatile and knocks out both sexes in one while maybe having blendshapes to portray either, so more attractive of a buy for men, women, and trannies alike>It's far easier to make something with a relatively cartoony style with flat colors, VR is like being short-sighted so they're probably a bit nicer to see from a distance too?>Eyes may have to be positioned in a way that doesn't indirectly conflict with HMDs; something like a sergal might be a bit awkward>Not entirely bound to a human frame, so taking advantage of that with digitigrade legs and more natural-looking tails is inevitable, others may even go with big claws or less digits>VRC ones especially like to make use of Poiyomi shadersI do get what you mean, especially when there's things like the Nardoragon, Kobodal, Wickerbeast, etc that share a lot of similar visual features. Haven't actually poked into mammals a lot but I often see the Hyenid modified to hell and back for all kinds of them.
>Not to mention the usual neon vomit eyesore with excessively noisy detailing.Highly depends on the person using it, I suppose some insist on using Normals and Emissions for the sake of filling another materials layer but yeah I'd just prefer mostly flat coloring. Most avatars do come with files for Substance Painter otherwise.
