I was thinking more from a thematic standpoint (going from a swimming suit to a diving one, anchor hair to match the 'sinking' theme) than a practical one while making this design. But here's something to maybe make you feel better about it - I think she could twist the braid into a bun and hold it up with the anchor if she wants to get the long braid out of the way.
