I used a semi-Trick Room strategy, with Nargacuga used as a sweeper outside of TR and Genosidoh refusing to die like a poorly playtested 1987 JRPG final boss.

Planning on starting Inclement Emerald in a bit, just waiting for more bug fixes and/or content updates before I go for it.

I'm late to say this, but Minotaur is the early-game filter for SMT4. Things open up considerably after you reach Tokyo.

Short of grinding for months or NG+, there is no way to reliably beat Minotaur if he gets even a little bit lucky. No selection of demons or skills allow you to survive in the face of getting some bad luck.

To a small extent, this is also true for Whitney: Clefairy could Hydro Pump your Geodude, or Miltank could get continuous flinches, but these just aren't the same odds. Geodude or Machop trivialize the fight, let alone if you have both. There's nothing stopping you from getting something with Poisonpowder and heal-stalling her either.
