Remove Megas, Z moves, stop adding annoying gimmicks and rebalance the Pokemon. I don't care if they have to do a reboot. They'll never do this because gimmicks sell, but it's what I would like.

Apparently there was talk of gen 2 mega, but since they gutted Kalos after 1 main game it never came to pass. If you noticed they introduced mainly kanto mons for the first wave of megas.

The best justification for Megas is still to make less competitively viable Pokémon actually usable, although I still wish cross gen evos returned. Of course, Pokemon who are at their 3rd stage can't evolve again, but once you give a Pokémon a Mega, you can NEVER undo that shit. Which is a shame, because I wish Mega Banette was a regular evo

Honestly this.
All it takes to make some older mons better is to give them a new ability, or a bigger movepool, and or buffed stats in the right areas, or some other stuff like that. There is no need for all of these new gimmick to make older mons better, just rebalance them to make them a bit more viable.

There will still be a most effective option and people tend not to like stall wars so yeah if the meta is offense focused it will end up being sweeper v sweeper. Unless some defensive core is discovered that can handle major offensive threats. Plus I would argue some of the other legends njeed their rebalance to minmax them. A legend ofn the Pokemon world should not be worse in a fight than a bear that crushes spines

Not really. You can have a really good ability and still not be worth using. You can have stellar stats and not have the moves to excel. Hell you can even have everything in your corner and just be outclassed. Take the example of the arms race between Dragonite and Salamence

Serperior is already pretty good though, if only because of Contrary Leaf Storm. Would be pretty neat if it got a more physical-focused Mega to make use of Coil though.

I honestly cant think of anything that would make sense. It has abilities that don't help it, but even if you changed it to something that made some sense, like wonder guard (it is slightly cosmic) it still doesnt have the stats to back it up.
You'd havr to change everything about it. Movepool, typing, stat distribution, and abilities. Honestly only the design would be the same.
They fucked it up that badly

I know it's not that reasonable of a comparison, but it's just that Beedrill was just so bottom of the barrel that no one would ever think that it could even be considered the least bit usable

After all, of all the Pokemon to get a Mega, Beedrill was definitely the weakest regular one in the list. I mean...it's Beedrill

It needs a bit more adjustment than Beedrill, like moving all of it's Sp. Def into it's attack stat and ramming that 100 BST boost into speed. It can keep Iron Fist.

Because of it's movepool. It has Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Drain Punch and Mach Punch along with Iron Fist but virtually no attack stat (Also Dizzy Punch, Focus Punch and even Comet Punch)

But it only gets most of those through tutor or egg moves. What it really needs is some kind of ability that raises its defenses whenever it uses a punching move, so it can function as the Baton Passer that it was obviously meant to be.
