>>37317279I don't believe that's true. If we truly lived in the Pokemon universe, it's not impossible that some of us would have been given starter Pokemon at a younger age. Even if we didn't get starter Pokemon, it wouldn't be hard to befriend a Pokemon Team Rocket style, and have them join me on a journey. I play with feral/stray cats and random birds all the time. Just become friends with the Pidgey you feed bread to everyday and (since Pokemon seem to understand human speech), convince them to hop in a pokeball and go on an adventure. That's all it would take to start. Hell, what's stopping you from asking a relative that's a trainer for a Pokemon?
Also, I'm sure there's a lot of money to be made in Pokemon, because of endorsements and the such. Who wouldn't want to be the next Kobe Bryant of Pokemon battling? What does anyone here really have to lose?
My biggest issue is that it would probably be a massive pain to get an Iron Fist Chimchar. I'd assume finding someone to teach him Fire Punch and Thunder Punch would be the easier than tracking down a breeder, or finding one in the wild.
