I definitely took inspiration from DB because DB's chi and Pokémon's aura are very similar. I don't think this is coincidence either since Masuda was heavily inspired by DB. Hell in Pokémon Journeys Ash's Lucario uses an Aura Sphere that looks identical to Goku's spirit bomb.
In the original DB series, Goku learns the Kamehameha instantaneously after Master Roshi says it took him 50 years to learn it.
