-Ash finds himself on the edge of the coast in this weird multi-region. While they're all excited about it, Corphish is shown to be extra excited to "be in the sea after so long"
-I personally do not believe this to be a component of the meta-narrative being spun, but perhaps the Corphish could represent the power of "home" as Ash travels back to Kanto. Or it could tie into the narrative later as Ash sees some older released Pokemon happy in the wild. Alternatively, he could represent the excitement of the viewer to see Misty again, as that's fundementally the point of this episode.
-It's interesting to me that the Pokemon of the day, Clauncher (A water-punching Pokemon) appears in the same episode as Misty, and she's the one who'll eventually catch it.
-Misty makes her appearance by "catching" Ash with her lure, a point already discussed to death via the trailer. Of note is the feminine chime in her ENTER moment. Her trademark wink assures us that she's the same as ever.
-We see what will be changing from OP to OP every week. It's not really a whole lot, but the pokemon featured change. This further places stress on the importance of the major Pokemon in the series and how this final arc will care for them.
