as for ash's opponents, it makes sense only if it was a traditional tournament and not a ladder ranking that we have seen so far, it seems weird to only have ash vs 3 of the 7 available trainers and have one not be iris? their battle at the start of the series would lead up to it as well.
I can see M8 not being a straight arc BUT I think as we get to the final matches it will turn into a arc.
for the frog and serena I don't think we will see them returning (NOTE: it's important to note that this post would have been made after the m8 leaks and before the frog ep) why would they have the frog return just for that after all the training he and Lucario did with him teaching Lucario about the mega aura ball it does not make sense for the frog to return for one battle.
Now as much as I know people(serena fans) don't like this being used it's real I don't think she will be back both her goodbye and the frog where sunset goodbyes with their dialog being being "send off"
while I think that Goh could see mew I don't think he would "befriend" him his whole goal and how project mew has been set up is him cathing mew and traveling to where ever he would be. why would they end his story like that?
