Personally I think she looks older than 10, and the argument is rightly made that it only counts for the anime - but even so, it stops people from going too crazy pretending Misty is way way older than 10. It's a small deterrent. So we don't get too much "Ya can't be a lifeguard at a pool unless yer 16+" or some crap, yanno? And this fanbase would do it. That arbitrary number in a different timeline holds them back barely enough that it's not the norm, at least.
I just wish I could say the same for a lot of characters, Roxie included, and at the same time wonder why people need to imagine these characters as old as possible using any excuse possible. In this world of uncanny child agency, eternal summers and magic monsters. But a band?? No way bruh.
