I consider very few mons totally unusable. Alolan exeggutor is my third favorite pokemon, and while it hasn't made a splash in any tier beyond NU, I've tried it out, and it's a decent trick room setter or choice specs user in higher tiers.
Many pokemon are like that. Kecleon, in my top 5 but sitting comfortably in PU, isn't terrible as a priority abuser because protean combined with it's lovely movepool is that good. I've even had success with coil arbok, a pokemon in danger of being removed from the PU viability rankings.
Find out what your bro is good at, see what's good right now that your mon can theoretically handle, and build your bro to beat that thing.
Having said all that, tropius (2nd favorite) is pure dogshit and that upsets me.
