people think it's people who recently became old enough to post here that dominate the narrative, but that's not quite true. the dominant narrative most often manifests as background assumptions that are rarely discussed or questioned. it corresponds to the demographic that's old enough that their opinions have shaped the environment that newer fans discuss the games in, but not old enough to have aged out of the community entirely.
this narrative is seldom discussed and rarely questioned, it's the things that people just assume are true because they hear everyone else saying it. a few years ago, this narrative was that gen 2 and HGSS were peak pokemon. (remember when every wishlist video included following pokemon?) nowadays, the narrative is that emerald is the best and people are warming up to ORAS as well.
i dunno how long hoenn is gonna stay on top because they've always been pretty cuntish and people are already sick of their shit. but when it does shift again, expect to see meltdowns akin to genwunners in response to gen 5 or johtoddlers in response to Pchal's video.
