People have seen this for as long as Serperior has existed. After the final evolutions of the gen V starters were leaked, a now infamous /vp/ post was made where someone claimed to be the original leaker and claimed that the leaks were fake. In that very post, they claimed that MILOTIC was their direct inspiration for Serperior's design.
If people only shipped Mirojaro because they were both snakes, then Mirojaro wouldn't be anymore popular than Milotic x Arbok or Serperior x Seviper.
