The trick to abusing is emotional dependency. You gotta make them think they're terrible and worthless and you're the only person capable of loving them. Once they have that thought in their head you can get away with an awful lot.
I would love to be an abusive boyfriend/trainer to a female Greninja. I would splash hot sauce on her tongue scarf and tell her she's ugly. Then I'd tell her I love her and take her out to the movies and the Waffle House. You can't be all rage and cruelty all the time. You have to mix it up and be really, really nice all the time to show you love them (or at least make them think you love them). Shit like this is how you make an abusive relationship work.
I'd love to abuse other female pokemon in a similar manor. Scyther, Bisharp (seemingly unlovable dark and ghost types would be great), Froslass, Sneasel, Lucario (it evolves through happiness, so you can use that as evidence that you love it even when you make it squirm and scream), Absol, Floette, all could play the "Abused Girlfriend" role perfectly. I would love to abuse any one of them if I ever got the chance.
