>>53113341NTA, but Shudo's view of love is also very narrow. Whether he realized it or not, he setup Misty to go through Pragma or Pragmatic Love.
>Pragma is built on patience and understanding to ensure a long term healthy romantic relationship.>Pragma is founded on logic and reason and is more about what a partner wants based on certain qualities of another beyond just physical.>Eros (passionate/physical) and Ludus (teasing/flirtatious) are secondary but not exclusive to a relationship built off of Pragma.>For Ash and Misty, Pragma was built from the foundation of Philia (love of friends/equals, aka deep friendship).>Misty's interest in Ash isn't built off of Mania (obsessive love or one-sided love), and its obviously not Storge (familial love). We can also rule out Agape (universal love) as that is more an Ash thing where he tends to get along with everyone and everything. And Philuta (self-love) just seems to be a given for most characters in general. Also to dig at Shudo's mindspace more, his reasoning directly conflicts with his own intended goals for writing. He states he doesn't want to write a scene that makes the audience feel something, yet he wrote a scene in which Misty dove into cold ocean waters with next to no protection from hypothermia to save an unconscious Ash. If he wanted to accomplish that, he should have had Misty send out water type pokemon to go save Ash. And you can tell this moment eats away at Shudo, as when he asked what scene they felt was emotional, his fellow coworkers agreed on the scene with Misty saving Ash.
