The Nanu and Acerola arc has been the best Ash-centered arc in SM so far. Nanu beat Ash and Lycanroc pretty convincingly and told them to go fight Tapu Bulu to get stronger. When Ash does so, he helped his Lycanroc not go wolfman every time he gets dirty. That much is fine -- it would've been better if I hadn't just seen that storyline but more compelling in DP, but it was fine. Then when Ash and the TRio come back, Nanu tells them both to go fight at the abandoned supermarket. Overall, Nanu's based as fuck and I hope he wins the Pokemon League.
Pikachu vs. Mimkyu in the abandoned supermarket might be the only TRio battle I've actually looked forward to. Not to reagitate the argument a few posts up, but this is episode 76. Mimkyu's rivalry with Pikachu has been established for over 70 episodes now. In AG, DP, or XY, the TRio would have fought Ash and Pikachu with Mimikyu at least 50 times by now, and Pikachu would've won every time because Pikachu has to. Since SM TRio shows up every few episodes, and only rarely actually tries to steal Pokemon, they've managed to keep the two apart for a reasonable amount of time, and the Bewear addition made it so that Mimikyu could at least seem like an equal match. And it was, until Ash used Electro Web to completely block Mimikyu's Z-Move with his traditional tactic of utter bullshit. But Pikachu has to win, and this was enjoyable nonetheless.
