I have done both Teal mask after and before completing the main game and I agree with

Doing the teal mask after the way home is more fun, and more challenging with Carmine Kieran and the ogre clan using held item.
On the otherhand doing the teal mask early gives you access to lots of easy Applin and early heracross for example.
Also getting Sinistcha before completing the victory means you can use its ability in the ghost gym and have a Sinistcha and Polteageist standoff wuith the director.
Ultimately it depends on your autism's flavour
