I was reading through the Pokémon Mystery Files from 6 years ago out of pure curiosity and... anons, isn't this ancient civilization mystery precisely exactly the same problem that Paldea presents?

In the first reply to this post, I'll post the rest of the translation of this mystery file but... they really double down a LOT on the fact that the ancient civilization got the technology from the future.

... Is this it, bros? Is Paldea's lore meant to expand on the mystery files from 6 years ago? There's a lot of talk about occult and rumors here.

They were a series of entries with a few scientists/researchers from the Pokémon world discussing various mysteries, ruins and Pokémon that have been presented in the series. I only just remembered its existence now, but it really does cover a LOT of things that are often discussed when it comes to Pokémon lore.
It discusses the Unown, Ultra Beasts, ancient civilizations in the Pokémon world, time travel, etc.

I know, right? The Mystery Files are, in general, something that I find really fascinating because it's one of the few times I've seen Pokémon acknowledge these elements from pretty much every game and present them together like this. It makes it feel like they really do have something planned (or, at least, that they've thought about this more than we thought) because they've tried to put it on the spotlight.

If Gen 9 and Area Zero, along with the time machine, ends up actually taking these ideas and doing something with them, I think it'll be really magical. It'd be a sign that the Pokémon world is actually more consistent than we think, and that they could be planning things ahead of time.

aren't there only like 3 people who we know have been in the distortion world, platinum protag, cyrus and cynthia, frankly it could be anyone of the 3 I could easily see all having such interest in unown and mysteries about the past/future, I like to imagine it is cyrus because that would be the most interesting and could connect to his interest in technology (and how the past was more seemingly more advanced)

That, and the fact that the Abyssal Ruins also use the blacked out characters for the transliteration of the symbols we don't know the meaning of. It's probably just a coincidence, but it reminds me of what ScVi does in the books and when they mentioned the Terastal being is called [][][][][][] in the Area Zero Journals.

It made me think for a second that maybe the reason why it appears as blacked out letters is literally because it's written in a different alphabet the player character doesn't understand. If the professors/Hearh/whatever was under the influence of Terapagos, maybe Terapagos uses this ancient language to communicate and that's why it's not understood by the player.

I personally think that's more of a coincidence, just a symbol they used to convey an absence of language. Don't you think they would add a note that there's strange markings in a language we don't understand?

Either way I loved reading through the texts. I've always hoped beyond all hope that there was some underlying grand theory that explains the majority of the pokemon world lore and that we'd eventually have it explained or hinted at.

For me Area Zero in S/V really brought me back into thinking that there's more complex theory in Pokemon. I can only hope we actually get something like that in the DLC

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is definitely Terapagos.
Is there anything here that connects to crystals? If not, I think the similarities are a coincidence and not just because I'm 100% the time machine isn't really a time machine

Honestly, I do think that there is some underlying consistent truth to the Pokémon world. A lot of people point towards THAT Masuda quote (you know, "It starts to get a little complicated if you pay too much attention to timelines") and say that there's no point in thinking about the story because of it, but I also think people are missing the context and the point of why Masuda said that. This is what Masuda says right after:

>"Maybe one hint is that if a character is appearing with Professor Oak, they’re living in the same era. Rather than some series where it makes sense to have the timeline progress as you go and the story evolve, the approach that Pokémon takes is expanding the world, like what the regions are, and making it richer as we go. Rather than a timeline, it’s more of a physical space thing."
It's not that Pokémon doesn't have a consistent timeline, or that they don't have actual lore. It's more like "If you look into the specific details like 'if DPP and HGSS happen at the same time, then how can Jasmine be in Sunyshore City when she should be at the gym?' then it gets weird." For those specific details, you're just kinda meant to go "yeah okay, Jasmine just travels fast between the regions and does it often". Same with Oak appearing in Platinum.

If anything, Masuda's quote proves that they think about consistency a lot, but it's just they'd rather make the world, regions, etc. richer with lore, rather than make one linear story. The Original Story, AKA the Creation of the Pokémon world, is surprisingly really consistent, for example. Especially in JP, with the use of very consistent terminology.

So the Unown relating to ultra beasts I dont see the sense of that if not that they somehow control dimensions because they probably make dimensions in the first place. I think the unown are at the base of the multiverse

As for the future technologies, we know now that Arceus, or the Arceuses, directly influence human history by even teleporting humans through time. And Legends actually also confirms that an ancient human did get to Arceus, which made Arceus realize and take a liking in humans. Thus explaining where the plate inscryptions come from; the only way any human could know about the history of the multiverse is because Arceus told them. Probably Arceus told the ancient hero himself how things went.

Also I dont remember if it was still a line in the mystery files or elsewhere or the time traveller alien in sun/moon but I remember being somewhere implied that plates material come from the future and thus then they were sent to the past somehow. At the same time though theyre the pieces of the OG creature's body so I dont know how much sense does it make, but it could be the inscryptions were even made in the future and then sent to the past. I should look again into this stuff, anyway the researchers are just speculating, but they reveal something important about mew and ultrabeasts in these files when they prove that ultraworlds have a single unique species in the entire world. Meaning that mew was that species for earth, and its inidividual abilities allowed it to evolve in other species

We know the plates were made (all as Blank Plates) when the Original One basically split into parts to create the world. They were infused with Types after, with "the power of defeated giants" (still a huge mystery, we don't know a whole lot of this). I don't remember anything about them coming from the future, but I'll look into it... It could be an interesting piece of information.

It's already confirmed. it certainly doesnt need the 9th gen to give this sign, since theyve always been there.

I mean poketards dont even know that the giants are mentioned in the games or who the writer of the ancient verses is, they still didnt understand arceus even after type null underlines even more its concept, they usually dont even understand at all the very basic plot of pokemon games, coming up with shit like that necrozma ate the sun or denying things that have been mentioned in the games because they never read them or completely ignored. If they cant even read, they obviously would never get to understand the complex and indirect way pokemon tells its lore.

Pretty much in pokemon its always a pokemon doing great, futuristic or magical stuff, and in fact the ultimate weapon itself is made out of the crystals of zygarde. They may be speculating about it being from the future because it seems too advanced or unreplicable, however now that terapagos itself confirms the creation of the "time machine", of an AI, even of individual pokemon, it may really just refer to the powers of the giants. Which makes sense with ancient pokemon made alive by "mysterious powers", like claydol and golurk, or even deoxys that has the same exact lore as claydol.

By the way Cogita even states that the Celestials were a much superior population than modern humans, and thus it may also refer to humans becoming shittier with time, like in real life. Afterall, this is also reflected in contemporary Pokemon plots. The descendants of the ancient great people that made the regions' civilizations, which by the way may just be the same race of people, aka they could be all Celestials, in contemporary pokemon society are the antagonists, are seen as an evil to destroy because of their extreme ways of making good out of society. Hell, they even had superior abilities, other than strength and genius, cause the Harmonia could even speak to pokemon.

Masuda knew the inspiration but willingly didnt say it, and its quite peculiar that he said that he wants fans to find out by talking to one another. He also got serious for this question which was weird whereas he laughed for the whole rest of the interview. He in general always gives vague answers when people ask him about the lore. But firstly, I doubt he makes the lore lol, I dont see why people always ask Masuda about the lore and popular theories. He doesnt make the damn lore, and probably he barely ever gave much imput into it. Other than that he may genuinely not know certain things, afterall we're also talking about a company that made an entire game over Mew, and then puts Mew in secret into the game without others knowing. It's obvious what they do with the lore, purposely making it so indirect and hidden to a superficial eye, yet obvious to who wants to understand. They want pokemon to keep this mystery and metropolitan legends spirit that it had ever since the start. Hell, they even made a category of pokemon based on this, which includes arceus but yeah. They know what fans know and what fans get to, too, I mean they remade an unaccessible event in DPP for Legends. They constantly mention old lore, even of singular pokemon, and its just so much of it. Even lore that you probably never thought of; such as, what are evolutionary stones and why they made organic pokemon evolve? Now think about every other stone related thing and power that went on throghout the series.

They have an ABSURD amount of patterns they repeat every single generation, for example did you know that they make a pokemon drippling something in every generation?

Obviously Gamefreak cares immensely about the lore, that's no question, and itd be absurd to think otherwise. If you still have doubts on it, it's simply because you didnt understand the lore.
