>>48542270I mean they don't fare much different in the anime. There's even a scene where the most human Pokémon, Meowth, gets told he's not a person but a Pokémon.
This sort of attitudes and behaviors may seem strange to the people that want to view Pokémon as being something they're not but it aligns with the notion of Pokémon being fictional pets and animals. Games like New Pokémon Snap, which gave the Pokémon animalistic cries even to those that may not have real life animal parallels, shows that Pokémon live like wild animals. Pokémon are naked, and this is something TPCi has been anal about, they live in the wild, they don't live like people do naturally. So it shouldn't be surprising that Pokémon who are naked 24/7 and human don't share the same concept of modesty as people do piss and shit in the open even in malls and crowded spaces and GameFreak has zero issues implying that. The other quirks also fit neatly into this viewpoint such as enclosing Pokémon in pastures, and even implying they eat hay like real livestock, or their dog like behavior in camp complete with actual replicas of pet toys.
This is the context the Pokémon find themselves in and it's the context that should be respected instead of trying to portray the Pokémon as something they're not.
